FNV KIEM – the creative union
FNV KIEM is a professional organization which represents the interests of its members in the field of work and income. Members of FNV KIEM are employees, freelancers and self-employed people working in the graphic, publishing, audiovisual, packaging or art sectors. It is also possible for foreigners who are working or studying in the creative industry in the Netherlands to (temporarily) become a member of FNV KIEM.

FNV KIEM arranges corporate matters, such as collective employment agreements. FNV KIEM also provides personal advice, free legal assistance during labour conflict and illness, trainings, free advice about taxes and career consulting hours. FNV KIEM also offers profitable insurances, discount on your contribution and other advantages of FNV membership.

1. Legal assistance
During unpleasant working conditions FNV KIEM support its members by providing all-round legal advisors and specialists.

2. Personal advice
FNV KIEM gives advice about payment checks, maternity leave settlements etc. The helpdesk answers questions about employment, income and payment. 

3. Influence on terms of employment
FNV KIEM closes collective employment agreements. These are written agreements or contracts that are the result of negotiations with employers on wages, pension arrangements, holidays, training opportunities, childcare and more. FNV KIEM also lobbies for better work for freelancers. 
 
4. Workshops, training and networking
FNV KIEM offers workshops, trainings and thematic meetings - for example about negotiation skills or application of copyrights - for its members. 
 
5. Free advice about taxes
6,000 certified employees of the FNV help fill in the tax forms of 300,000 members annually. FNV KIEM offers a special service for self-employed members. 
 
6. Career consulting hours
FNV KIEM organizes free career consulting hours for its members. 
 
7. Profitable insurance
FNV members and their families profit from a 7% discount on basic health insurance, 10% on all additional insurances and 20% on  continuous travel insurance. 
 
8. Discount card
The membership card also functions as a discount card. It provides discounts from several suppliers on products such as travel, green energy, trainings and insurances. 
 
9. Discount on your contribution
The membership fee for FNV KIEM is a maximum of 16.27 euro per month. FNV KIEM has agreements with several employers about the contribution; by including the amount in the gross earnings members will not pay taxes on that premium. For freelancers the contribution is also tax deductible. 
 
10. Some more POWER
FNV KIEM arranges a lot of other things. FNV KIEM supports the council or employee representatives at the companies where its members work, and makes agreements with employers concerning health and working conditions.
